Departmental Undergraduate Scholarships
The Department of Geosciences awards five scholarships and one educational enhancement award annually to qualified undergraduate students.

The George H. Bishop Endowed Scholarship in Geology is awarded to a undergraduate or graduate Geosciences major on the basis of the following criteria: (1) Must be a full-time student; (2) must be a Geology student; and (3) incoming Freshmen are eligible with an ACT score of 30.

The Paul H. Dunn Memorial Scholarship in Geology is awarded to one or more geology majors on the basis of the following criteria: (1) The student must have completed at least one semester at Mississippi State University; (2) The student must have a GPA of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all college work, and in all work in earth sciences; (3) The student must demonstrate promise as a future professional geologist (as determined by faculty in the department); (4) The student must be a positive influence and involved in departmental activities.

The Ronald Greeley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate Professional Geology major. The student must have a 3.0 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale.

The Gordon Gulmon Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the junior or senior with the best overall scholastic record (the overall record in earth science courses may be used in cases of multiple persons with identical overall records). The student must have an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

The Sistrunk Endowed Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate geology major on the basis of the following criteria: (1) Must be a full-time student; (2) Must maintain a 3.0 on a 4.0 GPA scale; (3) Must demonstrate leadership abilities.

The Mark Worthey Endowed Scholarship is awarded on the basis of the following criteria: (1) Must be a full-time student; (2) Demonstrate hard work and need; (3) Must be a sophomore, junior or senior Geosciences major.
Educational Enhancement Award

The Forrest W. Pace Endowed Fund is awarded to one or more geology majors who schedule the Summer Field Geology course for that specific summer. The amount may vary from $100 to $500, depending upon several factors and is awarded based on grades, promise as a future professional geologist, and needs of the student.
