Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is a 12-month administrative appointment with the expectation that the successful candidate will continue to perform scholarly work. The extent of teaching responsibilities is negotiable. Administrative responsibilities of the department head include budget management, resource allocation, and supervision of staff. They must also have excellent interpersonal and administrative skills, provide effective leadership to the department, serve as an effective liaison between the faculty and administration, and be a strong advocate for the department within and outside the University. This includes working with the College of Arts & Sciences and alumni to attract funds and resources.
Ph.D. in geosciences or a related field, previous administrative experience, a distinguished record of research productivity, teaching credentials, student mentorship and extramural funding, and must also meet the university requirements for appointment as a full professor with tenure.

Southwest Louisiana’s KPLC-TV seeks a degreed meteorologist to join the First Alert Weather team. The ideal candidate will keep Southwest Louisiana updated with accurate forecasts and current conditions. You’ll use the latest products from Weather Central/WSI to provide forecasts across multiple platforms. In addition to meteorologist duties, you’ll serve as a web content producer and video journalist.
A bachelor’s degree in meteorology or atmospheric sciences from an accredited institution is required for this position. A background in journalism and/or mass communications is also preferred. Candidate must also have a good driving record, valid driver’s license and the ability to pass drug screening.
