Destiny Crockett

Dr. Destiny Crockett is a proud, born and raised native of Greenwood, MS. She earned her B.S. degree in Agriculture with a concentration in Environmental Science at Alcorn State University. She earned her M.S. in Environmental Science from Jackson State University and her Ph.D. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Mississippi State University. She is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the MSU Department of Geosciences. Her research studies barriers and resilience strategies by amplifying the voices of small-scale Black farmers across Mississippi. Her work draws from previous scholarship in institutional racism, colorblind racism, black agrarianism, community and local based engagement, food sovereignty, and black geographies. She continually seeks to fill the gap for equitable opportunities particularly among historically marginalized communities, by serving as a liaison to capture and amplify Black voices who advocate for economic liberation and food sustenance.

Dr. Crockett is conducting research for Themes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
