Dr. Shrinidhi Ambinakudige is a Professor of Geography and GIS. His research connects human and physical geography to examine interactions between society and the environment, with particular emphasis on the human dimensions of global environmental change. He investigates how human knowledge, decisions, and practices shape environmental change and how these changes influence livelihoods, health, and community vulnerability.

His research spans, climate resilience, land use and land cover change, natural disasters, agricultural landscapes, biodiversity, vegetation dynamics, and glacial retreat. His current work examines climate adaptation in the Mississippi Delta, social vulnerability and disaster readiness, pesticide exposure, and environmental health. He also studies food security and internal migration in the United States.

Dr. Ambinakudige integrates geographic information systems, remote sensing, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), and machine learning with theories and methods from human and environmental geography. He applies these approaches to analyze complex spatial patterns, monitor environmental change, and develop predictive models of agricultural and environmental outcomes. His study areas extend across North and South America, Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia.

Community engagement and education are central to his work. He collaborates with local communities, schools, and nonprofit organizations to connect scientific research with community priorities and support climate resilience. Through research, teaching, and outreach, he seeks to advance environmental understanding and support more resilient and equitable communities.
