"Cargo for Conservation" Program

Collaboration between Mississippi State Art Students and the Dunn-Seiler Museum

Instructor of Geology and Collections Manager of the Dunn-Seiler Museum, Amy Moe-Hoffman, talked to art students from Dr. Jamie Mixon's graphic design students about the Illegal Wildlife Trade. The specimens you see on the table have been confiscated in the Illegal Wildlife Trade and are on indefinite loan to the museum as part of the "Cargo for Conservation" program through the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Students used these specimens as inspiration for posters and photographs designed to raise awareness of the issue of the illegal trade of wildlife.

The art, along with some of the wildlife specimens, will be on display February 9th-11th at the McComas Art Gallery on the Mississippi State University Campus. There will be an opening reception on Tuesday, February 9th from 4pm-5pm. Normal gallery hours are from 8am-11am Tuesday through Thursday.
